Shipping and returns

How a live jumping spider is packed and posted, which days it goes out, when we hold a parcel for weather, and what can and cannot be returned.

Last updated 2026-09-15

When parcels go out

Animals ship overnight, Monday to Wednesday, so that no spider spends a weekend in a sorting facility. An order placed on a Thursday goes out the following Monday.

We ship only when the weather at both ends allows. If your forecast or ours is too cold or too hot in the days a parcel would be travelling, we hold it and tell you. No amount of packing beats waiting for a better week, and a hold is not a delay we apologise for — it is the reason the animal arrives.

How it is packed

The spider travels in a ventilated container inside an insulated box, with a heat or cool pack sized to the forecast when one is needed. Every parcel carries a card with the animal’s name, its generation and the pairing it came from.

Shipping is included in the price, to a single address within the United States. We do not ship live animals internationally.

Returns

A live animal cannot be returned. This is not a restocking policy; a spider that has travelled twice has been handled, chilled and rattled twice, and re-selling it to somebody else would be the wrong thing to do to it.

If a spider arrives dead, that is covered — see live arrival, which sets out what we cover and what we need from you.

Unopened supplies — enclosures, substrate, feeders and the like — can be returned within thirty days of delivery for a full refund of the item. Return postage is yours. Opened supplies and anything perishable cannot be returned.

An order that has not yet shipped can be cancelled in full for any reason. Once a parcel is in the post it is a shipped order, and live arrival is what applies.

Questions about any of this, or about an animal, go to help@spoodsweb.com — ask before you buy, and answers are usually the same day. Spoods Web, LLC operates Spoods Web from Arlington, Washington.
